Everyone loves a Porsche, but why do so many people complain every single time they make a change to what they do? Alex Goy will let you into a secret. Porsche owes you nothing. And that’s a good thing.

Agree? Disagree?

They owe us a model to slot between the Ma can and Cayenne to appease rich coeds and stepfords, and yet another limited edition 911 for overmonied greying speculators.

You c an’t have a nameplate that has run continually for as long as the 911 and not get this. I’m suprised you don’t see more bitching from the mustang and jeep crowds.

They owe us unicorn, manual transmission cars that will depreciate down to a few hundred bucks in 10 years so that we can buy them and then go on to complain how expensive the parts are.

They’re a business, now just another cog in the wheel of a huge corporation. They only “owe” their shareholders profit. We should be thankful they still manage to give us the amazing machines they do! If enough of us keep buying, they’ll keep selling.

I was about to say you misspelled Alex Roy when I saw it was a bald guy talking about a fast car but turns out there’s an Alex Goy in the auto world as well, is this like a somewhat speed-limit respecting ripoff version?

To be honest “Porsche doesn’t owe you fuck, and here’s how my Gumball /Cannonball story fits into this” is more in line with Alex Roy’s style.

Alex Goy’s very good. I have been watching his reviews since the Xcar days 2013ish

Haha yeah, I mostly just saw nearly- Alex Roy and the bald head and thought ‘that’s a new way to spell it’.

I did watch the video and he seems really good, I’ll have to check out more of his content. Maybe more British and respectful version would be more accurate?

T hings like engine note, cooling method, and type of steering assist are all th e w rong things to be focusing on. They don’t ruin the 911 . What ruins a name is building a fundamentally different vehicle than what that name has been established to mean. If the next 911 had an open bed like a pickup truck, the car itself would be cool (utes always are), but it would be a disgrace to the 911 name. It should be called something else. There should also never be a F WD 911, n or a minivan version .

There are plenty of other cars that break such rules and are far more deserving of our outrage.

They don’t “owe” anybody anything, but they’d be stupid not to take it into account. There would be nothing stopping them from renaming the next 911 “Fritz” and slapping the 911 badge on a fwd crossover, but they’d be idiots to do it because it destroys the value of the badge.

Classic case of “Just because you can doesn’t mean you should”.

“ What would a Youtube keyboard warrior who would never buy one of our products think?”

Lol, not much different than “What would a car forum keyboard warrior who would never buy one of our products NEW think?”

Porsche owes us nothing, certainly not those so called enthusiast who don’t buy new cars to begin with. Those who make fun of new car buyers as suckers who take the deprecation hit while they wait 3 years to save money on that sweet deal.

Same folks who are angry at crossovers and lament the loss of manual tranny brown station wagons and wonders why no one makes the cars they like?

Hey Now! I’d totally buy a new car...If it were $30,000 or less. But I wan’t the luxury features, tech and world-class performance of a $6 0,000 car...Oh wait, this why I don’t buy new cars.

I’m the same way when it comes to new cars, and I mostly buy used myself.

Just pointing out some disconnect of some people on this forum who complain about auto ma kers making the “wrong” cars. They make the cars people are actually buying. You can’t complain if you don’t contribute to the market.

As for Porsche, they owe it to the market who buys their cars new. They are a business after all .  If they only listened to enthusiast, they would probably be out of business right now.

In all seriousness, Porsche owes us cars that people want to buy. That is their purpose: they sell things in hopes that people will buy them. They continue to exist because people buy their cars. It’s a vicious cycle where nothing ultimately matters except the money and our willingness to part with it.

I didn’t like the 991.1's electric steering. It felt too light in a gross, unnerving way. Panning that, or ugly headlights, or even the lack of a “back” button for a radio (seriously, fix this in the Cayenne, parsh) or whatever, sort of comes out of concern for the continued existence of my beloved source of hard-to-find 944 parts. (Yes, still!)

...

no parsh means no more fun parsh, and no more fun parsh is BAD
